How to Apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana
Are you looking to avail the benefits of the PMAY scheme? Check out this step-by-step guide that walks you through the application process.
The central government of India introduced the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Housing for all Scheme by 2022’ on June 2015. The scheme aims to provide homes for all citizens. In line with the initiative, the government has identified 2058 cities and towns across the country to construct over two million pucca houses for the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) and LIG (Low Income Groups). To be able to get the benefits of the scheme, you must apply for it.
Step-by-step Guide on Applying for a House Under the Scheme
If you are looking to apply for PMAY, you have come to the right place. Here in this guide, we share with you a step-by-step process you must follow:
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has set up a simple process and application form at the official website www.pmaymis.gov.in. The application form has two pages, and applicants need to provide key details about themselves including their income levels, to be eligible for free housing under this scheme.
The application process starts by entering in the Aadhaar number of the applicant. Once the Aadhaar number has been verified, you are directed to the next step of the process. This first step serves to prevent multiple registrations by the same individual.
Step 1 – Log on to the official website – www.pmaymis.gov.in
Step 2 – Under the Citizen Assessment tab, select ‘Benefits under 3 components’ from the options available there.
Step 3 – You will be prompted to enter your Aadhaar number. The site verifies that your Aadhaar details are correct and you are not attempting registrations multiple times.
Step 4 – Once your Aadhaar number has been verified, you will be taken to the next pages where you must provide key information including – name, annual income levels of your household, number of members in the family, residential address, mobile number, religion, caste, age of the eldest member in the family, and other such pertinent information.
Step 5 – Once you have filled in all the columns, scroll down, enter the captcha code provided in the box and click submit.
That’s it. You have completed the application process. If you need to alter any details entered in the form, you can edit the form using your Aadhaar number and the application number. So, make sure to note the application number before you close the window.
The steps listed above are the same for the Slum Dwellers category under the PMAY. The one tiny difference is that you have to choose ‘For Slum Dwellers,’ under the Citizen Assessment tab, instead of ‘Benefits under 3 components.’
Alternatively, you can approach your nearest CSC (Customer Service Centre) to complete the application process offline.
